My Mom has cancer and has been on medical disability from her job. Her company canceled her insurance. Can they do that?

Question Details: She is in the process of Chemotherpy & Radiation treatments for Cancer. Her company made her use her vacation days, then put her on short term disability. She was then supposed to go on long term disability but they are now saying that the company does not provide long term. And they just canceled her medical insurance. She is too young for medicare/medicaid or social security. What does she do now? Can they legally stop her insurance?

She should contact the insurance regulatory agency in Pennsylvania.  http://www.ins.state.pa.us/ins/site/default.asp  She might need an attorney to fight her employer and their insurance company on this.  Try www.attorneypages.com or calling your local bar association for a referral to a health care attorney.
