Question: Criminal Defense - New Jersey

my landlord don't want to give me my security money back what can I do?
I never sign a lease or anything. I had to leave because I'm a vitim of dometic volence by the super who is also my ex.. not long he was going to hit me again and I been hit so many time by him that I fear he will hit me so bad that I had to leave. Since that happen I have his family banding at my door and all and do even go out because I fear. I had to leave because I can't stay but now the owner don't want to give me my security money back. Is there anything I can do? I can't stay where I fear I will get hurt.

you have a number of options, some of them are.  first get a domestic violence restraining order.  rven yhough you do not live with your x, you would qualify.  you can bring an action in small claims court for your security deposit.
