Can I get reimbursed for towing fees if the area where I parked didn't have any "No Parking" signs?

Question Details:

My jeep was towed today by a business I parked out in the street in front of. I would not have parked there had there been any other place for me to park. I did not block any driveway, although they accused me of such, and there were no signs saying no parking and had no fair warning (which was a courtesy provided by other businesses around the place I was visiting). I was not on their property; I was on the street. Many other cars were also towed. Can I get these guys to reimburse my tow fee?

Yes. If there was no indication that you could not park there--for example, no stripes or lines used to denote no parking, no "no parking" sign, etc.--then it was a legal parking spot and the business violated your rights and the law in towing your car. You could go after them for your towing fee; any other costs (e.g. if you had to take a cab or bus); and any damage to your car. People may not tow other people's cars that are in a legal parking spot.
