Question Details: my husband and i have been married for 1 yr. and 9 mos.we have a 2 year old daughter together.i left our home in KY 4 months ago due to bad living situations with his alcoholic sister.we were never actually separated or anything i just needed to get away from there.he and i both knew that i just needed to spend a little time away to work on getting my GED and license because nothing was getting accomplished there and i was extremely uncomfortable with the living situation.
The first thing you need to do, and probably the hardest, is to decide whether or not you want to save your marriage, or try to, or not. That's not a legal decision, that's a life decision.
However, you might well want to know what your life could look like, after a divorce, and you should have a consultation with a divorce lawyer in Kentucky (or South Carolina, if you're considering staying there long enough to satisfy the residence requirement). This would not in any way commit you to going ahead with a divorce, and the lawyer would never tell your husband you were there without your permission.
