How long can an executor legally sit on the property?

Question Details: My grandfather died over 11 years ago. The estate was divided into thirds among his 3 children; however, my father had asked to be written out of the Will, so his third was split between my brother and I (the only grandchildren). We had to wait to the age of 25 to receive any money. When we both turned 25, we received a check for 50,000; however, there is still property (where the Will was written) that the executor has been sitting on for over a decade.
