Are step-children legal heirs of a step-parent?
Question Details:
My father married a woman in the early 70's who had been a widow. She had 3 grown kids. Are me and my sister heirs?
If you are asking if you are this women's heir the answer is no, not unless she legally adopted you. Her being your step-mother doesn't qualify you as an "heir". An heir is either an adopted or biological child; not a step-child. Her children, however, would be her heirs.
If there is a Will, absent a specific bequest to you, you do not stand to inherit from her estate.

Are you a lawyer?
