My ex-wife wants to move my daughter to a different school district and we have 50/50 custody; can I stop this?

Question Details:

My ex-wife wants to move my daughter out of our school district next year. She has decided to move out of town. We have 50/50 placement and my daughter is going to be in 4th grade next year? Can I stop my ex-wife from moving her? In June of this year when she moved she gave me verbal agreement that she would not move her schools. Also I currently pay $500 per month in cs but my ex now got a new job with a raise and now she signed papers last June giving me 50/50 custody. Can I get my support lowered? The WI state calculator says I should be paying around $200 or less. Is this accurate?

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  As for relocaitng your daughter:  the court is going to do whatever is in the best interests of your daughter.  the court will likely has a court appointed individual to represent you daughter.  the court will want to make sure the daughter is happy and is not being displaced in the middle of a school year and so forth.  if the court decisdes that your daughter is better off staying put, the court will keep it this way.  i suggest that you hire a lawyer to take legal action to keep your daughter where she is.  as for the child suport, you can make a motion to modify it based on your income and the statute.  the lawyer you hire can make motion for modification.  the statute and your finances will control.  i suggest putting together a financial affidavit showing that you need to have the payments lowed.
