What to do if my ex-husband took it upon himself to stop paying child support?
Question Details: I have a court order that orders him to pay support and half of medical expenses not covered by medical insurance. I pay for it all. He said he shouldn't have to pay because my daughters stayed with him through the week for school. The only reason they did that was because I was having to get them up at 4:30 am and drive them to their dads for school. I was thinking of the kids. Yet I still get no help. I have a daughter that is in college now and I paid all expenses for her senior year. And I have a daughter in the 8th grade.
Under the laws of all states in this country your "ex" is required to continue abiding by the child support order pertaining to him regardless of the situation until the order is modified per a court hearing on the subject and subsequent order.
I suggest that you consult with a family law attorney to see what your legal recourse is such as filing a petition for an order to show cause regarding contempt of a court order if your "ex" will not voluntarily resume payments per the court order on his own.
