This will stay on your criminal record forever unless you get it "expunged" (cleared).  Here's a site that will explain further:  http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/selfhelp/other/crimlawclean.htm

It will also remain on your driving record forever.  However, by virtue of something known as the "look back period", the court will only look back into your record 10 years.  If there are no other offenses within that time, then any second offense will be treated as your first for sentencing purposes.
