My company wrongly attacked by Ripoff Report; they want $$ to remove it. ROR shows b4 my own co. on Google search. How do I stop it?

Question Details: My company is being attacked by Rip Off Report. They are attempting to extort money to get this libelous entry removed. This post shows up in Google search before my own website. What action can I take?

If you can prove that what ROR posted is not true -- and that you proved to ROR that it's not true -- and they still refuse to remove it, and they have asked for money to do that (surely they weren't stupid enough to make that ask in writing or an email?), you have a very good case for defamation, and the demand for money, to make a retraction that should have been done automatically on proof that they were wrong, will be something a good lawyer can use to prove malice.  And malice can mean punitive damages, over and above any actual financial injury to your business that you can prove.
