If my car was stolen, can the cops charge me to have the car towed from the scene to their station?

Is it the local police or is it a private company that tows?  It seems horrible that you should be charged fees for towing after the car was stolen but yes, it could happen.  Do you have car insurance?  Comprehensive coverage?  That may cover the towing costs.  Check the terms of the policy.  Also check if there are any victim organizations that can help defer the costs.  Good lcuk.
