My boyfriend was assaulted as a result of three people breaking into his car at the apartment complex he was living in. Can he sue?

Question Details: He had gotten out of his car for a few seconds and went back to get in and there were three people inside his car robbing it. A fight broke out and he was injured. Can he sue the apartment complex for not posting that they had had car break ins. They were aware of cars being broken into but did not notify the tenants.
