How do I force my adult child into rehab?

You cannot force your son to go to rehab. The way to deal with this unfortunately is to let go of him. You need to come to the realization that you are not able to help him by yelling at him and scolding him. You need to cut him off so that he does not use you as a crutch and wants to help himself. Legally, you cannot fill out an application that requires the state or some institution to take him in against his will. Under some circumstances you can hospitalize someone for 24 hours, however, this is not what you are looking for here. I suggest that you try to take him with you to a counselor as you need to get him help, but cannot forece him by law.
