My 20 year old daughter received a underage drinking violation in a state park while sitting around a camp fire. Is a breathalyzer standard protocol?

Yes, sounds like the police used what's call a PBT or preliminary breath testing device. In addition to the odor of alcohol they now now a test result to corroborate the officers opinion. There may be a legal issue as to whether or not the police had reasonable suspicion to request the test. If you would like legal representation, please give me a call.
