Criminal Defense Law Answers

A misdemeanor will stay on your record forever.  In some states, misdemeanor convictions can be "expunged"; that is cleared from your record.  Generally, however, Virginia is not among them.  You could try to obtain a pardon from the governor but this is an exceedingly difficult thing to do.
