Bankruptcy Law Answers

You will not be personally responsible for any pre-marital debt.  However, to the extent that you two may later acquire joint assets, they could be a risk.

When the debtor gets a job, depending on state law, they may have a portion of their wages garnished and/or have their bank accounts seized.  So do not open up any joint accounts with them.
