Lapsed insurance - grace period?

Question Details: We were involved in an accident in which the damage to the bumbers of both cars was so minimal that the "traded" paint on either would probably be removable with vigorous waxing. The people we bumbed are likey going to sue for 'back' injuries. They tell us our ins. was canelled - a payment due 19 days prior hadn't been made. We brought our policy current the next day. We have a 6 month contract to pay in installments several of which had been paid. The ins. company tells us that a notice of cancellation had been issued but we didn't recieve it. Now they are deciding if we're covered. Are we?

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  The insurance company is going to have to prove that they complied with the policy and sent you the notification.  if they cannot prove this then she should have to cover the damages if any.  i wouldget all the payment records you have and show them the history ofr your payments.  i would also hire a lawyer if the company decides not to cover you as they may be exposed to liability if they cannot prove the cancellation issue in accordance with the policy.
