lapsed insurance and got into an accident and i am at fault. no injuries. how should i proceed with other party insurance

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  I suggest that you try to set up some sort of payment plan wiht the person.  you can tell them that if they do not work with you, you will declare bankruptcy and they will get nothing.  if you own a home you need to worry about a judgment lien and if you have a job you need to worry about the person garnishing your wages from work if they sue you and get a judgment.  I suggest working out a deal to avoid both of you spending time and money unnecessarily.
