Isn't information given to a therapist sealed?

Question Details: A GAL requested the files from my therapist. I feel she slipped that request to the court among other requests and the judge said I had to sign the papers for medical releases, etc. I thought the law protected clients from having this information given out. Now, not only does she have the information, but everyone connected with the case does. Is this legal?

There is a therapist/patient privilege of confidentiality; however, medical records can still be subject to a subpoena.  In your case, the judge ruled in favor of having the medical records produced which required your signature to authorize their release.
