Is this slander and how do I get it to stop.

Question Details: My brother in law accused me of reporting his wife's basement business to his building inspector. I never did it. The worst part is he never said to me directly to my husband, his parents, and other extended family members. He will not stop doing is. It has caused me great emotional distress and I feel it is psychological abuse because I keep telling him to stop. To top it off, he is an attorney. What is my legal recourse? He has damaged relationships with family members and has brought a lot of tension into my home. Should I get an attorney?

This may be subjectively upsetting to you, but it is not the type of accusation that most jurors would think casts you in a bad light or harms your reputation in the community.  In fact, he is accusing you of doing the right thing.

If you are still interested in meeting and having your case reviewed by an attorney, please don't hesitate to contact my office.
