Is there a minimum allotted time for policy changes to be in effect? I.E.: Dress code changes is it right to start them immediately?
Question Details: There was a dress code change. All employees need to now buy black pants for work. This policy change was to start immediately. Unfortunately I do not have the money to go out and buy black pants currently. I knew it would be possible within 30 days but now I have been unable to work because I cannot afford black pants immediately.
Unfortunately, this is the sort of change or policy that is completely within company discretion--they may make it any time they want and are not obligated to provide warning or notice.
Could you possibly draw an advance against your salary or loan from the company (repaid out of next pay check) to let you buy the pants?
