Is there a law against former employer not giving information?

Question Details: I have been trying to find a job since Jun I recently called my last company I applied for and they said my former employer was not given out any information about me.How am i suppose to get a job.Recently that employer and I went on a hearing to discontinue my benefits i dont think that's right.

Unfortunately, employers are under no legal obligations to say anything about former employees. You can explain to prospective employers that your former employer is not giving out any information; and you can use your past pay stubs or W-2 to prove employment and pay; but there is nothing else  you can do.
