Is it true that a PA police officer cannot have a convicted felon in his home even if they have served their time?

Question Details: My niece was convicted of a felony a few years ago and served her time. Her cousin and her brother are both police officers and both are shunning her with the fact that they cannot legally allow her in their home. I never heard of such a thing. She is family and her time is served. Is this true or is it just a way to keep her at a distance out of embarrasment?

It wouldn't surprise me at all, if the officers were required to avoid associating with known felons.  It's nothing new or uncommon.  I don't know what exactly your niece did, that landed her in prison, but this is one of the long-term consequences of breaking the law.

Some TV shows and movies may make light of a felony conviction.  The reality, without a convenient script to get the hero through the tough parts, is much, much harder.
