I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  officers may follow you as long and as far as they would like.  you are not going to be arrested for stalking you.  the police are permitted to investigate and patrol the roads.  It is your job as a driver to obey the rules and not make a mistake.  I suggest hiring a lawyer to help you resolve the ticket.
