Is it illegal for a boss to talk to an employee about a separate employee's pay/paycheck?

Question Details: I had gotten fired and my boss, instead of talking to me, was relaying messages through my friend (who worked at the same place) to me. She relayed messages regarding my last paycheck. I want to know if it's illegal for her to do this?

No, it is not illegal. It is highly unusual or improper (at least, if your friend didn't work in human resoiurces or payroll or some other capacity in which case they would normally have access to payroll information). It may also be against company policy, and if you feel strongly enough about it, you could talk to your boss's boss. But it is not in fact illegal.
