Is it fair for a insurance company to suspend my license for a car accident?

Question Details: I got into a car accident in May of this year and I didn't have insurance. I already got my license suspended for 90 days for driving without insurance. Now the insurance company that the guy that i got into the accident with is telling me that I have to pay a certain amount with my license suspended until I pay that amount, I am a single mother of a ten month old and I don't make very much money. Is it fair that they are going to suspend my license again without even taking me to court?

Yes, it's fair.  You were driving without insurance and you were in an accident, and there's no trial needed to prove that.  You have to pay what would have been paid already, for the damage that you caused, by the insurance you should have had.

Insurance is how society spreads the risk, of the very high expense of being in an automobile accident, and it only works if everyone participates.  When you drive without insurance and get in an accident, everyone else has to pick up the slack for you, and the system is designed to discourage slacking.

Car insurance is expensive, I know.  But driving without insurance usually ends up being more expensive.
