Is it a repair shop responsible to fix a car before getting paid and what can I do?
Question Details: I've had my car in a shop for about a month and a half. Said shop still has not fixed the problem. Every time I call said shop they give me a run around about why they couldn't get it done. Said shop has replaced clutch set, clutch hose, and master cylinder. After replacing the clutch set said shop said the master cylinder was bad. I told said shop to go ahead and replace it. Now after that said shop said they thought the clutch set I bought was bad. That they would need to take it a part and replace it. So I re-ordered he clutch set and took it to said shop. The next day said shop called and said it could be the hose. I told said go ahead and replace it. Said shop replaced it but says car is still not fixed. Is there anything I can do about this?
The estimate that you should have signed with respect to the repair work on your vehicle before work began would set forth the terms and obligations of the repair facility to you with respect to your vehicle. As such, you need to carefully read the document.
If there are problems with your vehicle that seemingly cannot get resolved in a short time, you need to speak with the owner of the facility as to what is the issue.
If the explanation does not meet your approval, then your option is to contact your state's department of automotive repair to have an investigation upon the facility with respect to your vehicle.
