Employment and Labor Law Answers

1) Yes, you can be fired by voice mail--or by email, text message, letter, etc. The law does not limit or proscribe how an employee may be terminated.

2) While two week notice is traditional, it is only a tradition--there is no requirement for it, on either side: an employee may quit effective immediately, and the employer may also terminate the employee immediately, including after receipt of notice.
