Adoption is defined in family law, as "the legal process that establishes a parent/child relationship between individuals who are not related by blood". There is no to "child" (for adoption purposes)until the actual birth. Therefore, no adoption can occur prior to that time. However, a petition for adoption can be filed on the date day of birth itself.
