I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. You are not permitted to represent your incarcerated friend in a court of law unless you are licensed to practice law in the state of OR. if you try to go to court on your friend's behalf you can be charged with practicing law without a license and face monetary/criminal charges. i suggest that your friend hire a public defender, which is free, to represent him in court. you do not need to get in trouble here and you would be doing your friend an injustice by going to court. hely your friend by helping him hire a public defender. the public defender office is located at the court house. go there and explain this to them and ask for help.

Are you a lawyer?
