I'm currently on misdemeanor probation and I'm not being granted permission to move out-of-state. Can they even extradite me? Will they extradite me?

Question Details:

I'm on misdemeanor probation in NY for attempted to failure to register and want to move back to NC, but NY won't change my probation . I was wondering, will be able to extradite me back for that? If so, how much trouble will that make  for me and my family?

Most states will not extradite for misdemeanors, unless they are a neighboring state.  However, there is no guarantee.  Additionally, if you relocate without NY's permission, a warrant will be issued for your arrest and, if you are ever picked up on the warrant in NY, you will be resentenced, probably to jail.  If a warrant has been issued, even if you are not extradited, you will probably have trouble traveling across borders as well.

Your best bet is to make an application to the court to allow the move.
