illegal sentencing

Question Details: my friend is currently serving a 2 1/2-3 with a 3-4 from and after for a **** charge he was told by a judge that this was an illegal sentence what would he have to do to have this looked at and hopefully reversed?

From what you wrote I don't know what the charge is or why the sentence is illegal.  Your friend needs to file a motion to revise and revoke sentence and must do so within 60 days of sentence.  Even if he is too late, he should file a motion for relief if his sentence is indeed illegal.  If he wants to retain counsel, feel free to contact me.  Bill Harrington, 617-426-7400

Without the specifics I cannot advise if it is illegal or anything of that sort. However in general if a person wants to contest a sentence because it is illegal the best thing to do is contact a local attorney who specializes in this area of law. provide them with all the specifics and they will immediately tell you if it is in fact illegal. At that point you will decide about making a motion to the court to have the sentence reduced or whatever the end goal ends up being. Good luck
