I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  If you sued the person and obtained a judgment in your favor, then you should be able to still go after the person if you can find them.  Judgments are generally valid for 20 years.  I suggest that you hire a lawyer to review whatever paper work you have from the court to determine whether you have a valid judgment.  usually, lawyers will meet with you for free the first time and you can have an idea of what if any you can enforce.  I suggest negotiating a contingency fee with the lawyer - i.e. he gets 1/3 of what he collects so you do not waste money on a potentially uncollectable debt.

In Nebraska a judgement (either foreign or domestic) is only good for 5 years unless it is renewed.
