If you have been charged with fraud of less than $1000 and this is your first offense, how long could you get?

Please demand a public defender on your day in court.  It is my understanding that Alabama has detailed laws regarding fraud - type of fraud as to insurance, banks, etc - and it can be very confusing.  I believe that the charge is a Class C felony when it involves insurance fraud and that may be the same across the board.  But a felony is a felony and a conviction will  stay with you.  So ask for help.
