Question Details:
If there is a check made out to the estate, what is required to deposit it and divide it among the children?
In California, an estate administrator must be appointed by the Court. That administrator would have authority to open an estate bank account then endorse and deposit the estate check. The distribution to beneficiaries would also be pursuant to Court order.
