I am a CA lawyer.  You should handle this claim like you would any accident.  Here are couple of suggestions.  First, make sure that you take photos of the damage to your vehicle.  If you have any visible injuries, such as bruised or cuts, make sure to get photos (and if you are taking photos of a bruise, I think it is a good idea to make sure you get a close up and a photo which shows the whole person).  Second, get some photos of the accident location so you will be familiar with the area. Third, if you have an injury, contact a lawyer for a consultation.  Fourth, if you have your own insurance, contact your carrier so they are aware of the accident.  However, do not provide a recorded statement until after you have talked with a lawyer.  Finally, get some estimates for the repair of your vehicle.  It is worth repeating:  if you feel you have an injury, consult with a lawyer first.  Good luck.

The first thing that you should do, is to contact a lawyer to determine if you have a viable case, meaning are your damages large enough to make the case worthwhile.  If you were hurt, then you will want to get medical attention without delay, and then file a claim with the trucking company's insurance company.  By the way, any visible damages to your vehicle, should be documented with photographs, and if you have any visible injuries, pictures should be taken of your injuries as well.
