I would like to know if I am starting an non-profit organization can I still have a salary to support myself and my partner?

My friend and I would like to start a sustainable business that focuses on recycled materials in the furniture industry. This would be used to create new product and support sustainable, affordable housing. Besides this I also would like to offer pro-bono environmentally friendly design services such as green architecture, and interior designer services for those who really need it. For example for Habitat of Humanity and Community Housing Innovations. Can we have a salary to support ourselves as a non-profit organizations?

In short, salaries for the officers of the non-profit are permitted.
