I work for the state and my job requires me to transport clients long distances. The state car is small and hurts my back, can I use my own car?

Question Details: I wish to use my own car which is a suv with power seats so I can adjust so my back isn't so strained, is this a reasonable accomodation for my job.

Your employer will not want you to take your own car for liability reasons.  However, you may be able to request an ADA accomodation if you can prove the car is hurting your back.  (ADA = Americans with Disabilities Act).  Such accomodation may require that you be reassigned, or it may require your employer to provide a bigger vehicle for you to drive.  Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
