The court will consider the following when determining whether to award spousal support and the amount of the award:

Your financial resources. If you are working or earning income, you will need pay stubs, tax returns, or other proof of income. Also, you need to provide information about any assets that you have.
The time necessary for you to acquire sufficient education or training to enable you to find employment (if you are currently unemployed or haven't worked during your marriage). Bring documentation of your education background: degrees, diplomas, certifications, etc.
The standard of living established during the marriage. In other words, did you live frugally or spend on whatever you wanted. You should provide records of expenses, credit card purchases, receipts, and any other documentation to show the standard of living that you have lived throughout the marriage.
The duration of the marriage. A copy of the marriage license should be sufficient.
Your age, physical and emotional health, and financial obligations. You should have copies of your medical records or doctor statements regarding your health, or if you have a medical condition, as well as any records of debts that you are personally responsible for.
The ability of your husband to meet his needs and financial obligations while meeting your needs. You need records of his income, tax returns, expenses, assets, and debts.
