If I went into a store to cash my check and the cashier gave me more money back than the amount of my check, is it criminal to keep the money?

Question Details:

I did not realize this until I left and got back home which is 100 miles away. The receipt does show the higher amount. Am I legally liable to the store when it wasn't my fault? They have the original of course and the receipt which does say the hire amount. It's been several days now and they have not contacted me. I know the moral answer but legally what are the issues?
