I was successful biddert on house at sheriff sale in Queens county NY.
Question Details: I paid the amount directed to me by the sheriff. They issued the bill of sale and sent info to have title registered. The !st mtg bank's lawyer had sent sheriff letter requesting $9k in expenses for other expenses and fees. The sheriff said I don't pay those. The court order to sheriff said "balance in full". The mtg co lawyer had not sent to the court a document, which was in the order, verifying what they wanted paid before the sale. Now, the mtg bank is suing me for the $9k. Do you think I have liability?
I am an attorney licensed in Kansas. Are you being sued in Kansas? If so, I may be able to help, but I would want to see the sales documents. Feel free to email me at sean@roadlawyer.net or call me at 913 441 5025 to discuss this further.

I doubt it, very much. I'd be very interested in reading their complaint, to see what legal basis they had for any claim against you, because I can't guess what reasoning they are using to try and make this your problem.
Please get a lawyer, in Queens County NY, to defend this suit for you-- and possibly to counterclaim for a frivilous lawsuit. If the bank wants their $9k, they can take it up with the sheriff -- or with their own law firm's malpractice carrier, if the facts support that.
