What to do if I was recently let go from my employer and I believe that I was wrongfully released?
Question Details: I have been with the company for over 2 years. Very shortly after I started, one of my superiors began harassing, bullying, and accusing me of different things. I was in touch with HR a handful of times, because of these allegations, but nothing ever happened, due to the fact that my superior never had proof. When I finally went to HR on my own accord, to report my superiors treatment, I was let go 2 days later. There is much more involved, dealing with the unfair treatment, and I would just like to know what I should do?
There is nothing you can do. Arizona is an at will employment state, which means you can be fired for any reason except an illegal one. In this case, illegal equals discriminatory. In other words, you can't be fired because of your membership in a protected class. You can't be fired because you are black, Catholic, disabled, etc... Any other reason is OK under the law.
