I was in a car accident a year ago today. I hired an attorney - was hit head on, sustained injuries and was hospitalized and out of work for 3 mos.

Question Details: Driver who hit me supposedly had a seizure - no documentation of seizure and he pleaded unsafe driving and got no points on license. Attorney notified me in the last couple of weeks that his insurer went bankrupt and they are going through procedures. I am miffed that this guy could cause such a horrific accident and he gets away with it - I'll be paid a settlement from the insurance company but it is really bugging me. Also, how do I ensure that my attorney is really acting in my behalf. I hear nothing from them unless I call them and I am concerned. Is this normal?

Unfortunately, in these times for both individuals and companies people are going bankrupt.  However, your issue may be more with your attorney than anything else.  I alwaya suggest that if you are having a communication problem with you lawyer( or any other issue for that matter) you are best served to have a face to face meeting with your attorney. You should call the office and make an appointment and have that discussion. one on one.  If you cannot come to a satisfactory solution then I would seek the advice of another attorney (second opinion) and as a last resort retain a new attorney.  Be sure you let your present attorney know of you concerns and if  you speak to a new attorney, tell that person of your issues/  Good luck
