Your question seems to involve a number of misconceptions that need to be cleared up, not the least of which is the fact that there is no misdemeanor/felony system in New Jersey. (There is in New York.) In New Jersey, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree crimes, all of which are indicted by the county grand jury. Beneath 4th degree, there are DPs and PDPs, both of which may be found most often in municipal court. Below a PDP, you will find municipal ordinances. It is your "guilty" plea to or conviction of these offenses that triggers probation, among other things. Insofar as the other part of your question is concerned, please contact me at either (732)932-7226 (office) or (732)710-0004 (cell).
