If I want to own the town pageant I started 6 years ago, how do I do this?

Question Details:

Registering the name is not good enough because someone can come along and add a word or two and then have a pageant in the same small town. I want to outright own the event how do I do this?

The only way one can own some event like the one that you are writing about is to register the name with your state's secretary of state's office, get it approved as your possession and then hold the event on property that you lease or own. The problem I see is whether or not people would actually lease space or pay some sort of money to you to participate in the event that is located on property that you own or control.

You need to realize that most town events are sponsored by the municipality to attract business to the locality. Merchants then pay a fee to set up a spot at the event to the municipality to then sell product.

From what you have written, since the event is already in existence, it is now part of the public domain and you cannot own it at this point in time. Perhaps you might want to consult further with a business attorney about your inquiry.
