How can I legally get out of my timeshare and the continuing maintenance fees?
Question Details:
Maintenance fees are more than I can afford. I am unemployed right now and need to get rid of it. I have been scammed by too many companies offering to help.
One possible option depending upon the advice of your tax person is to donate the time share to some charitable organization where legal title to the timeshare would be transferred from you to it. Possibly you might be entitled to some sort of a tax deduction to a charitable organization.
Better yet, the charitable organization may be able to use the timeshare for some fund raising purpose such as an auction bid. Another option is to try and sell it on the markey but there really are not too many offers for timeshares at this time.
The last suggestion is to deed the timeshare to the entity that owns the resort where the timeshare is located. At least that would get you out of the burden of the maintenance fees for it.
