I sold a couch as is and the people are wanting to bring it back
Question Details: i sold a couch as is, and the people say it smells of cat pee. Do they have the right to sue us?

Not if you sold it "as is." An "as is" puts the risk on the buyer (as long as seller did not actually lie about or deliberately hide material facts). A buyer who is uncomfortable with that should simply not buy things "as is."
