I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  If you an owner of the car, then you can be sued.  I suggest looking into whether the title to the car is in your name or another person's name.  You do not want to be on the hook here if there is an accident.  Generally, the owner's of the cars may be sued.
