How can I get off a loan that I co-signed with my ex-husband?

Question Details:

I reconciled with my ex-husband and co-signed on a car with him. We've since split and I want off the car and he says he can't afford to refinance. He has possession of the car, how can I get off of it?

Without the permission of the finance company, you can't.     I imagine the only reason you had to co-sign was that his credit wasn't good enough, either to qualify at all, or to qualify for a lower interest rate.   That contract is binding and unless it contains provisions to release you, you have no right to be released.
