I received a check, from insurance co.to apy a bill,what if I dont?.

Question Details: What if, my auto insurance co.sent me a check ,to cover my emergency room costs, when I totaled my car,. The check is supposed to go to the hospital,but i need it for bills. What will happen, if I decide to use this check for other purposes.?

Well California law from what I know cannot force you to pay the bill.  However, the likelihood is if you didn't have a lawyer bring down the cost of your medical care (via negotiation), the lien is still there and the medical office/hospital/third party can place a lien on your assets to security its interest.
